Neil Tierney, Research and Development Director and Matthew Higham, Solutions Delivery Manager attended Smart Metering UK, which was held in London at the end of June. Overall we felt that the conference excelled at gathering together leaders in smart metering if not smart home, but lacked focus on smart grid. However no doubt as the market continues to move at the fast pace it’s going, we will see more focus in smart grid. It seems there is an evolution of thinking going on with smart metering. It is now seen more as an enabler – a piece in a complex jigsaw – than simply an isolated one.
